Spring Smokes

By Emily Pinkos

I don’t know if you guys have noticed, but things are thawing. The ground, the air, our bodies. Entering the spring season means we can hopefully be a little less curled up like shrimp-people in the cold, and a little more awake in the sun. During this time of year, cannabis can be an invigorating avenue for you to mosey down; find the products that are right for you, and you’re looking at a fresh spring.

Whether we’re using marijuana to find some relief or for recreational enjoyment, there’s a peace we find when we smoke (or eat, or drink) it. Next time you’re at the dispensary to re-stock, consider terpenes that can help enliven your body. Two great options are limonene or myrcene; limonene aids in stress relief and an elevated mood, while myrcene focuses on more calming effects.

Because these are some of the most common terpenes, it’s easy to find them in a wide range of products. The Pure LA Confidential 1:1 Cartridge by Northeast Alternatives has both of these terpenes, as well as a hefty dose of CBD to restore you. Cultivate’s White Nightmare pre-rolls, dominant in limonene, can bring about “euphoria, bliss, and an elevated mood.” The feeling, not the show. Similarly, a product like Orange Mojito flower by The Botanist, which boasts a gorgeous flavor profile of “citrus, earthy, flowery, herbal, sweet and sour taste”, can lend a hand when it comes to “chronic pain, depression…and stress.” We’re leaving winter-hibernation-fog-brain behind us, folks.

But you can’t get your mind spring-ready without giving your body some attention, too. That’s where terpenes like caryophyllene (cinnamon & peppercorn) and pinene (pine trees…could you guess?) come in, which in addition to the tasty, fresh scents are huge players in the anti-inflammatory game. Inhaling some of that will help cushion your comfort, and can even work as a mood balancer. Fernway’s Bay Dream cartridge contains both pepper & pine, if you need a burst of freshness that will leave you feeling “happy and relaxed”; Ace Weidman’s Bootylicious pre-roll, a hybrid strain high in pinene, may be good for “chronic pain, headaches, depression, and insomnia.”

The less discomfort we have, the more our bodies can focus on getting back into Activity Mode, which means more fun to be had. I’m not saying we need to start running, but we could definitely stroll to get a coffee and lungs full of fresh air.

After a cold, hard winter, you deserve products that will work to revitalize you, and we’re more than happy to help find the ones that are right for your mind & body. Check out our menu or stop by and chat with one of our budtenders, who will be more than happy to help you find the terpenes that work for you. Time to spring back into action with TERPS!

Stay happy, stay high.
